In 1933 the Victorian Centenary air race from England to Melbourne, Australia was announced the idea for the Comet was born and three were built and entered.
The eventual winner of the speed prize was G-ACSS Grosvenor House, flown by C W A Scott and Tom Campbell Black, in 70 hours 54 minutes.
