This engraving captures the image of Sir Richard Cobden (1804-1865), a prominent English industrialist, economist, and politician of the 19th century. Born in Sussex, Cobden rose to prominence as a leading advocate for free trade, becoming a driving force behind the repeal of the Corn Laws in 1846.
