Former Swan Hunter coppersmith and welder Rob Dixon, 38, built the 7 ton steel hulled Rio Delta, in the backyard of his council home in Cedarwood Avenue on the North Shields Meadow Well Estate..
The fishing boat was lifted and taken to the towns Albert Edward Dock thanks to a 2000 North Tyenside Council grant.
Once fitted out Rob planned to charter the boat to fishing parties to raise money for the required fishing gear.
