The photograph features a green caterpillar of the Erinnyis ello species, also known as the Hawk Moth Caterpillar, and its adult form, the E. ello Sphinx Moth or the Coral Hairstreak Hawk Moth. The scene unfolds on the lush foliage of the Royal Jasmine, scientifically known as Jasminum grandiflorum, a flowering plant belonging to the asterid clade within the dicotyledonous angiosperms. The adult moth, with its striking wings adorned with intricate patterns, rests on a branch, while its former self, the caterpillar, is seen feeding on the delicate white flowers of the jasmine plant.
