The Five-Bearded Rockling, also known as the Five-Barbed Rockling or Mustelus Rockling, is easily identified by the five distinct barbels or "beards" located beneath its lower jaw. These barbels help the fish to detect prey in the sandy seafloor. The fish in this image displays a striking orange coloration, with dark spots covering its body. The Four-Bearded Rockling, on the other hand, gets its name from the four barbels found on each side of its lower jaw. These barbels are less distinct than those of the Five-Bearded Rockling, and are often hidden among the fish's gill covers.
