The New Ferry Tavern. Ferry Tavern in Ferry Street situated close to the Ferry

The New Ferry Tavern.
Ferry Tavern in Ferry Street situated close to the Ferry Landing stage at South Shields, Tyne and Wear.
Picture shows Bill Wappat, 79 and a former shipyard worker who has seen the pub decline overtime, taking a trip down memory lane
and pulled a pint in his local for the first time in more than 60 years. The Ferry, as it was known then, is now called The New Ferry Tavern and has shaken off its seedy past thanks to two couples who have sold their homes and bought the premises back to life.
He is pictured with Margaret Blacklock and Violet Corkin.
