EDITORS COMMENTS
Discover the captivating world of Ottmar Zeihar's Stamp Cards, a unique and intriguing philatelic creation from the early 1900s. Hailing from Queensland, Australia, Zeihar produced a series of 180 cards, each featuring an embossed stamp design that allowed collectors to appreciate stamps from countries they may have been unable to obtain or afford. These cards, published around 1906, showcase an impressive selection of coats of arms and crests from various countries and regions. Some of the smaller nations had very low printing runs, making these cards, and especially used ones, extremely rare. The unusual design of the Zeihar cards, with their embossed stamp imitations, was not approved by postal authorities due to the potential confusion with actual stamps. Consequently, these cards saw limited commercial use and are now highly sought after by collectors. Browse through this montage of Stamp Cards from Ottmar Zeihar, showcasing the rich diversity of the philatelic world during the early 1900s. Each card is a testament to the allure and fascination that stamps and their associated symbolism hold for collectors and enthusiasts alike. From the crests of European countries to the arms of far-off lands, these cards offer a glimpse into a bygone era, providing a fascinating insight into the world of philately during the early 20th century.
