Royal Wedding 1891 - Cliveden
Cliveden, the seat of the Duke of Westminster near Taplow in Buckinghamshire, lent to Prince and Princess Aribert of Anhalt (the latter formerly Princess Marie Louise of Schleswig-Holstein, granddaughter of Queen Victoria) for their honeymoon following their marriage at St Georges Chapel, Windsor on 6 July 1891. As the marriage was childless and annulled under mysterious circumstances in 1900, Cliveden perhaps didn t have a particularly romantic effect on the couple. Date: 1891

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning photograph captures the elegant beauty of Cliveden House in Buckinghamshire, the prestigious residence lent to Prince and Princess Aribert of Anhalt for their honeymoon following their marriage at St. George's Chapel, Windsor on July 6, 1891. The Duke of Westminster's grand estate, located near Taplow, played host to the royal couple as they began their new life together. The marriage between Princess Marie Louise of Schleswig-Holstein, granddaughter of Queen Victoria, and Prince Aribert of Anhalt was highly anticipated, but unfortunately, the union was childless and was annulled under mysterious circumstances in 1900. Despite the unfortunate outcome, Cliveden's breathtaking gardens and stately rooms provided a fitting backdrop for the couple's honeymoon. This photograph, taken in 1891, showcases the grandeur and elegance of the royal event and the stunning beauty of Cliveden House, which has continued to be a sought-after residence for royalty and dignitaries alike.
