This stunning relief depicts the ancient Egyptian god Ra, the sun god, in his falcon form, soaring above the head of Pharaoh Ramses II. The relief is a testament to the rich mythological and religious beliefs of the ancient Egyptian civilization during the New Kingdom period, specifically the 19th Dynasty (13th century BC). The relief was discovered in the Ramesseum, the mortuary temple of Ramses II, located in the Necropolis of Thebes, on the west bank of the Nile in Egypt.
