In this handcoloured lithograph by R.V., after an illustration by Francois Courboin from Octave Uzanne's "Fashion in Paris," published by William Heinemann in London in 1898, we find a fashionable woman immersed in the grandeur of the Louvre Museum in 1806. The woman, adorned in the height of 19th-century fashion, dons a straw bonnet embellished with feathers, a shawl, and a high-waisted dress. Her elegant attire is a striking contrast to the ancient Greek sculptures that surround her, including the renowned Discobolus of Myron.
