Established on 1 April 1965, the GLC-LFB was created through the amalgamation of various fire services in and around London. The Brigade was divided into three Command areas: Northern, Eastern, and Southern, each with a Command Headquarters that housed a Major Control Unit. Seen here is the Southern Command control unit, which was stationed at its headquarters. The unit is filled with a range of vehicles and appliances essential for managing and coordinating firefighting operations in the Southern Command area.
