Dutch Ships in a Calm, Dutch Ships in a Calm Sea, There are six warships on a wide calm sea. The sails are hoisted, the anchors lifted. The mirror of the ship on the right in the foreground is decorated with the coat of arms of Amsterdam, held up by two standing lions. This is probably a part of a war fleet that is getting ready for departure. A sloop with elegant figures, probably from the Admiralty, sails under trumpets and salute shots along the ships, while a little further on the last provisions and crew are still taken on board.
