Global biosphere, southern hemisphere, from space
The global biosphere: southern hemisphere. False- colour composite satellite image of Earths biosphere, showing the distribution of vegetation on land & phytoplankton in the oceans. The colours represent chlorophyll densities: from red (most dense) through yellow & blue to pink (least dense) in the oceans; and from dark green to pale yellow on land. The ocean data was acquired over a period of 7 years by the Coastal Zone Colour Scanner, a radiometer on NASAs Nimbus-7 research satellite. The land data was collected over a period of 3 years by the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer on the NOa-7 weather satellite

8"x6" Glass Mount
Wall mounted or free-standing, these black edged glass frames feature a smooth chamfered edge and a stylish black border (on back face of the glass). Manufactured from 4mm thick glass, Glass Mounts are a durable, professional way of displaying and protecting your prints. Your 8x6 print is slotted into the back of the frame so can easily be changed if needed.
Tempered Glass Mounts are ideal for wall display, plus the smaller sizes can also be used free-standing via an integral stand
Estimated Image Size (if not cropped) is 20.3cm x 15.2cm (8" x 6")
Estimated Product Size is 22.8cm x 17.7cm (9" x 7")
These are individually made so all sizes are approximate
Artwork printed orientated as per the preview above, with landscape (horizontal) orientation to match the source image.
EDITORS COMMENTS
This breathtaking print captures the beauty and complexity of Earth's global biosphere, specifically focusing on the southern hemisphere. The false-color composite satellite image showcases the distribution of vegetation on land and phytoplankton in the oceans, providing a vivid representation of our planet's diverse ecosystems. The colors depicted in this image represent chlorophyll densities, with red indicating areas of highest density and pink representing regions with lower density. This information allows scientists to study and understand the health and productivity of both terrestrial and marine environments. To create this remarkable visual, data was collected over several years using advanced technology. The oceanic data was acquired by NASAs Coastal Zone Colour Scanner (CZCS), a radiometer mounted on their Nimbus-7 research satellite over a period of 7 years. On land, data collection took place for 3 years using the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) aboard NOAA-7 weather satellite. Through this stunning photograph, we gain an appreciation for the intricate interplay between land-based vegetation and oceanic phytoplankton that sustains life on our planet. It serves as a powerful reminder of Earth's fragility and highlights the importance of preserving these delicate ecosystems for future generations.
