Vroom A ton up kid: Motor-bike kid Jason may be small but hes speedy
Vroom.. A ton up kid: Motor-bike kid Jason may be small but hes speedy. Since his dad, former race-ace Jim Smyth, bought him a motorbike, hes turned into a right little tearaway, so to speak. A twist of the throttle on his 47 cc Italian mini-machine and the sweet music sends him racing off at a rattling 5 mph. And that makes you a ton-up kid if you re only two. But his pet dog Buddys limit is only 4 mph. Anything faster and he scampers from the sidecar. December 1976 P006095

EDITORS COMMENTS
Vroom. . . A Ton Up Kid: Meet Jason, the pint-sized motor-bike enthusiast with a need for speed! Despite his small stature, this two-year-old dynamo has become quite the tearaway since his dad, former race-ace Jim Smyth, gifted him a motorbike. With just a twist of the throttle on his 47 cc Italian mini-machine, Jason sets off like lightning at an impressive 5 mph - earning him the title of 'ton-up kid'. But even at such speeds, he leaves behind his faithful companion Buddy who can only manage 4 mph before scampering out of the sidecar. Captured in December 1976 by Mirrorpix's lens, this heartwarming print showcases not only Jason's passion for racing but also highlights the special bond between man and dog. As Jason zooms through life on two wheels accompanied by Buddy's loyal presence, their adventures together create memories that will last a lifetime. This nostalgic snapshot transports us back to simpler times when children found joy in simple pleasures like riding motorcycles and sharing exhilarating moments with their furry friends. It serves as a reminder that no matter how young or small we may be, our passions have no limits. So let little Jason inspire you to embrace your own inner speed demon and chase after your dreams – because sometimes it's not about winning races; it's about enjoying every thrilling moment along the way.
