Led by their dedicated assistant manager Harold Shepherdson, who happened to be associated with Boro (Middlesbrough Football Club), these talented youngsters were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. These boys had every reason to feel confident as they had recently been crowned Cleveland County Champions in the English Schools Football Association Six-A-Side Championship sponsored by Smiths Food Group. Their triumph earned them a place in the North-East Regional Finals held in Sheffield. The stakes were high as only the winners of this tournament would proceed to represent their area at none other than Wembley Stadium - every young footballer's dream destination.
