EDITORS COMMENTS
Great moment in Everton Football Club history captured in this photograph as David Moyes leads his team out at Goodison Park for the FA Premier League match against Wigan Athletic on November 8, 2007. At the time, Moyes was in his eighth season as Everton manager, having taken over in 2002. Under his guidance, the Toffees had become a consistent force in the top flight, defying their modest resources to compete with the bigger clubs. In this game, Everton were looking to build on an impressive start to the season, having won five of their opening nine matches. Moyes, known for his meticulous preparation and tactical astuteness, would have had his team well-drilled and focused on securing three points against a Wigan side that had started the campaign poorly. The image of Moyes leading his players out onto the pitch, arms outstretched and eyes fixed on the horizon, speaks volumes about his determination and commitment to the cause. The Everton faithful, packed into Goodison Park, roared their support as their team took to the field, knowing that their manager was giving everything to deliver success. This photograph is a testament to the special bond between Moyes and Everton, a relationship that would endure for over a decade and yield some of the club's most memorable moments. Despite the challenges and setbacks, Moyes remained steadfast in his belief in the team and their potential, inspiring a loyal fanbase and leaving a lasting legacy at Goodison Park.
