Framed Print of 1879 Charles Darwin at eighty years old
1879 Photograph by Elliot and Fry. According to Gene Kritsky, who maintains an archive of Darwin photographs, this was from a session at his home, Down House, in 1879. After Darwins death in 1882 this version was sold mounted by Elliot and Fry in memoriam, the photo noted as circa 1880. Darwin was famously not keen on having his photograph taken by strangers.
