Poster produced for the Great Western Railway (GWR) to promote rail services to Ross-on Wye, Herefordshire. The poster shows a picturesque view of the town from across the river. Artwork by Claude Buckle (1905-1973), who originally trained as an architect but turned to fine art in 1928. He painted in both oil and watercolour and was a prolific poster artist for GWR as well as BR. Much of his original poster artwork is held at the National Railway Museum. Dimensions: 1016 mm x 635 mm. National Railway Museum is the home of iconic locomotives. Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
