Original oil painting made for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) for a poster promoting rail services to Blackpool, Lancashire. The painting shows a view of Blackpool beach crowded with people in swimming costumes or in summer dress. Artwork by Fortunino Matania, who was born in Naples, Italy, but from the age of twenty worked in Paris and then in London. King George V (1865-1936) was so impressed with Matanias work that he invited him to cover his tour of India. National Railway Museum is the home of iconic locomotives. Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
