Framed Print of The retreating Germans in Italy are doing all they can to hold up the 8th army by

The retreating Germans in Italy are doing all they can to hold up the 8th army by large-scale demolitions, though in many cases these demolitions are not as successful as they would have wished. This bridge, measuring about 180 feet across, could have presented a very difficult problem, but the charges in the halfway pier failed to explode, leaving an excellent base on which to build a new bridge, using two spans of bridging equipment.
