Created in the late nineteenth century, during the height of the Victorian era, this intricate work of art is held at the esteemed Natural History Museum in London. The Blaschka brothers, renowned for their skill in creating lifelike glass models of various marine invertebrates, meticulously crafted this model of the Sepia elegans, a member of the Sepiida family, which also includes the more commonly known octopus and squid. The model, which dates back to the years 1857 to 1895, is a fragile yet stunning representation of the Sepia elegans, with its delicate tentacles curled around the base.
