EDITORS COMMENTS
"This intriguing photograph features a continuous certificate of discharge belonging to Fireman William Charles Lindsay of the White Star Line. The document, dated from the 1910s, lists the RMS Titanic as voyage number 7 and describes it as intended for New York. A rare survivor, Mr. Lindsay was one of only a handful of firemen to have escaped the tragic sinking of the Titanic on its maiden voyage in April 1912. The certificate also mentions his service on the Olympic, another renowned ocean liner of the White Star Line. The document's pages are filled with handwritten entries and rubber-stamped signatures, adding to its historical value. Fireman Lindsay's military service during World War I is also documented in this certificate. The certificate's condition and the clear, legible handwriting of the entries make it a unique and valuable piece of maritime history. This document provides a glimpse into the life of a seafarer who served on some of the most famous vessels of the era, including two of the White Star Line's legendary ocean liners. This continuous certificate of discharge is a testament to the transport and travel history of the early 20th century and the brave individuals who made it possible. The document's inclusion of both the Titanic and the Olympic, as well as Mr. Lindsay's military service, adds to its historical significance."
