EDITORS COMMENTS
This portrait, titled "Marquesa de Santiago" is a masterpiece created by the renowned Spanish artist Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes, commonly known as Francisco de Goya. Painted in 1804 using oil on canvas, this artwork measures an impressive 209.9 × 126.7 cm (82 5/8 × 49 7/8 in. ). Goya's exceptional talent for capturing the essence of his subjects is evident in this portrayal of the Marquesa de Santiago. The marquess stands tall and regal, exuding an air of elegance and sophistication that befits her noble status. Her eyes gaze confidently into the distance while her lips curve slightly with a hint of mystery. The artist's meticulous attention to detail is showcased through his masterful brushwork and use of light and shadow. Every fold in her luxurious gown seems to come alive under Goya's skilled hand, revealing his ability to breathe life into his subjects. Through this portrait, Goya not only immortalizes the Marquesa but also provides us with a glimpse into Spanish aristocracy during the early nineteenth century. It serves as a testament to both the artistic genius of Francisco de Goya and his ability to capture the essence of individuals through portraiture. As part of Liszt Collection, this print allows art enthusiasts worldwide to appreciate and admire one of Goya's most remarkable works from their own homes or galleries without commercial intentions.
