EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "Landscape Mist Edo period 1615-1868 mid-19th century" takes us on a journey back in time to Japan during the Edo period. Created by Utagawa Kunisada, a renowned Japanese artist from 1786 to 1865, this polychrome woodblock print showcases his exceptional talent and mastery of capturing atmospheric phenomena. The misty landscape depicted in this artwork transports us to a serene and ethereal world. The delicate ink strokes and vibrant colors bring life to the scene, evoking a sense of tranquility and mystery. As we gaze upon the print, we can almost feel the coolness of the mist enveloping us. Kunisada's artistic brilliance shines through as he breaks free from conventional genre illustrations by focusing on famous places shrouded in mist. This departure from traditional themes demonstrates his innovative approach towards art during that era. Within this series of eleven prints, each picture demonstrates Kunisada's ability to capture nature's beauty with great precision.
