The Child's Prayer, by H. Lejeune, from Mr. Morby's Collection, Royal Exchange Gallery, 24, Cornhill, 1862. Mr. Lejeune, one of our most graceful painters of domestic subjects, has, in the little picture which we engrave, produced a study full of truth and healthful touching interest. The face of the young lad, intent upon his morning devotions, beams with innocence and hopeful cheerfulness; and this one object is of itself so completely satisfactory as the subject for a picture that the artist has done right to treat the scene in which it is placed with the utmost simplicity. [The painting]...cannot fail to shine as a gem on the walls of the nursery, schoolroom, or boudoir in which it may be placed. It was purchased by Mr. Morby from the painter, but has since passed from his hands'. From Illustrated London News, 1862. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
