Flat Iron Holder, c. 1940 - A Testament to American Craftsmanship and Functional Design

EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of a Flat Iron Holder created by Donald Harding in the 1940s. The holder, made from metalwork with a brown color palette, is an iconic representation of domestic appliances from that era. Harding's creation exemplifies both artistry and functionality. Its design not only serves as a decorative piece but also provides practicality for households during the mid-20th century. This period item reflects the ingenuity and attention to detail prevalent in American design at that time. Displayed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D. C. , this watercolor and graphite on paper artwork captures the essence of America's heritage art scene. It stands as a testament to Harding's talent as an artist and his contribution to decorative arts during this transformative decade. The Flat Iron Holder evokes nostalgia for simpler times when household chores were done meticulously by hand.
