The series of paintings, created in the 16th century by Santiago Ortega, vividly portrays this significant chapter in history. In this image, we see Cortes astride his majestic horse as he leads his Spanish troops into the heartland of Tlaxcala. The vibrant colors bring to life the clash between two worlds - Spain and Mexico - as well as the collision of cultures that defined this era.
