EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the exquisite Damask Linen gifted to Alexandra of Denmark on her momentous wedding day in 1863. Created by Mr C. Faber from Stuttgart and Messrs. Burre Bros. Dumferline, this stunning piece of decorative art is a testament to the craftsmanship of its time. The close-up image reveals intricate patterns and vibrant colors that adorn the linen, reflecting the opulence and grandeur associated with British royalty. The photograph captures not only the beauty of the fabric but also serves as a historical record of an important event in British history. The marriage between Edward VII and Alexandra marked a significant union, symbolizing love and unity between nations. As future King Edward VII (1841-1910) married Princess Alexandra of Denmark (1844-1925), their wedding at St Georges Chapel, Windsor Castle became an iconic moment for both Britain and Denmark. Robert Dudley's artistic talent shines through in this lithograph, which was featured in "A Memorial of the Marriage" by W. H Russell. The inclusion of English text adds depth to the composition while emphasizing its cultural significance. This print transports us back to a bygone era, capturing not just a beautiful object but also encapsulating an entire narrative within its frame - one that celebrates love, tradition, and royal heritage for generations to come.
