The Comte de Barras in the costume of Director, 1795-1799 (1882-1884). A soldier, Paul Jean Francois Nicolas, Comte de Barras (1755-1829) advanced in revolutionary France to become one of the five Directors who controlled the government under the Directory established in October 1795. His political career ended in 1799 when the coup d etat of 18 Brumaire, largely engineered by Napoleon Bonaparte, ended the government of the Directory and replaced it with that of the Consulate. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: To minimise original artwork cropping, for optimum layout, and to ensure print is secure, the visible print may be marginally smaller
