Framed Print of Love a-la-mode, or two dear friends

Lady Strachan and Lady Warwick making love in a park, while their husbands look on with disapproval. Coloured etching, ca. 1820. "One of the ladies says "Little does he imagine that he has a female rival". Behind some bushes, Strachan, in an admiral's uniform, says "What is to be done to put a stop to this disgraceful business?", to which Lord Warwick replies "Take her from Warwick" Lady Strachan, born Louisa Dillon, married Sir Richard Strachan in 1812. She became the mistress of Lord Hertford, later settled in Naples, acquired the title Marchesa di Salza and died in 1868. Sarah Elizabeth, Lady Warwick, was the daughter of Lord Mexborough and widow of Lord Monson. Artist unknown, 1820 (Photo by Pierce Archive LLC/Buyenlarge via Getty Images).
