Jacobs Ladder was constructed In 1754, during the building of Ramsgate harbour. A timber staircase called `Jacobs Ladder, named after Jacob Stead, the carpenter who built it, was made at the end of the west pier for access to the harbour works from the cliff top. It sadly fell into decay and disrepair and the present stone staircase replaced it in 1826 and still used today. Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
