Since the early days of Crouse College, the bells have been looking over the Syracuse University campus. Toward the end of the 19th century, John Crouse, the buildings benefactor and a University Trustee at the time, bought the first nine chimesÔÇöweighing from 375 to 3, 000 poundsÔÇöfrom Clinton H. Meneely Bell Foundry of Troy, New York, for roughly $5, 000. Crouse never saw his building finished, but he did hear the bells before his death in summer 1889. He passed away 24 days after the chimes first thundered ÔÇ£Carol Sweetly CarolÔÇØ on the Hill. Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
