The image showcases a pivotal moment in history - the construction of sewers that would revolutionize sanitation and hygiene in the city. In this detailed pencil sketch by George Scharf, we witness a scene filled with activity and determination. A group of diligent workers can be seen diligently constructing, digging, and building underground tunnels using bricks and pipes.
