EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the eerie beauty of the gargoyles perched on the balustrade of the Grande Galerie, a replica of a 12th-century original by Eugene Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc. Located at Notre Dame in Paris, France, these stone creatures have become iconic symbols of Gothic architecture. Each gargoyle seems to come alive as they watch over the bustling city below, their piercing eyes filled with an otherworldly intensity. With their grotesque features and horned heads, they exude an aura of both evil and mystery. These monstrous figures stand tall against the backdrop of Notre Dame's grandeur, reminding us that even in sacred spaces darkness can lurk. The photographer skillfully captures every intricate detail - from the texture of weathered stone to each menacing expression etched onto these guardians' faces. Their presence is both intimidating and fascinating; one cannot help but be drawn into their world. These gargoyles serve as a reminder that even within art there exists duality – beauty intertwined with darkness. They embody our fascination with all things mysterious and unknown. As we gaze upon this photograph, we are transported back in time to witness firsthand Viollet-le-Duc's masterful craftsmanship and his ability to bring forth such ethereal beings from mere stone.
