Oil refinery worker

MODEL RELEASED. Oil refinery worker checking the feed pre-heater in the hydrofining area of an oil refinery. The hydrofining area is where crude oil products are processed to remove impurities such as sulphur. This equipment is part of a SCANfining unit that uses a proprietary catalyst system developed by ExxonMobil, together with Akzo Nobel. SCANfining (Selective Cat Naphtha hydrofining) uses a catalyst called RT-225. It minimises hydrogenation of olefins. This preserves the octane rating of the final petrol or jet fuel products, and also reduces the consumption of hydrogen. Photographed at ExxonMobils Fawley Oil Refinery, Hampshire, UK

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases an oil refinery worker diligently inspecting the feed pre-heater in the hydrofining area of a prominent oil refinery. The hydrofining process is crucial for eliminating impurities like sulphur from crude oil products. In this particular facility, cutting-edge technology developed by ExxonMobil and Akzo Nobel called SCANfining (Selective Cat Naphtha hydrofining) is employed to achieve exceptional results. The skilled engineer featured in the image belongs to a new generation of professionals who are at the forefront of refining techniques. His expertise ensures that the final petrol and jet fuel products maintain their optimal octane rating while reducing hydrogen consumption. This remarkable achievement is made possible through the utilization of RT-225, a proprietary catalyst utilized within this SCANfining unit. Photographed at ExxonMobil's Fawley Oil Refinery located in Hampshire, UK, this snapshot captures both human ingenuity and industrial progress. The worker's meticulous attention to detail symbolizes the commitment towards purifying petroleum products efficiently and effectively.
