Col. J T C Moore-Brabazon (later Lord Brabazon of Tara) preparing to fly a Voisen-Farman I-bis 1910.
On 2nd May 1909 he became the first resident Englishman to complete a solo aeroplane flight in England at Leysdown, Isle of Sheppey; he flew 450ft in a Voisin biplane fitted with an 8-cylinder E.N.V engine.
He was also the first Englishman to hold a pilots licence when he was issued No.1 by the Royal Aero Club on 8 March 1910. He gave up practical flying in 1910 but continued to be closely involved with aviation until his death, aged 80, in 1964

. This print captures a defining moment in aviation history, as Col. J T C Moore-Brabazon (later Lord Brabazon of Tara) prepares to take flight in a Voisen-Farman I-bis aircraft in 1910. A true innovator and visionary, he played an instrumental role in shaping the future of aviation. Renowned for his groundbreaking achievements, Col. Moore-Brabazon made history on May 2nd, 1909 when he became the first resident Englishman to complete a solo aeroplane flight in England at Leysdown, Isle of Sheppey. With sheer determination and skill, he soared through the skies for an impressive distance of 450ft aboard a Voisin biplane equipped with an 8-cylinder E. N. V engine. Not only did this remarkable aviator secure his place in history by accomplishing these feats, but he also earned another significant accolade. On March 8th, 1910, Col. Moore-Brabazon became the first Englishman to hold a pilot's license when he was issued No. 1 by the Royal Aero Club. Although his practical flying days ended shortly after that milestone year, Col.
