The artist, Francis Towne, a British native from Isleworth, Middlesex, showcases his incredible talent through this pen and black ink drawing with brush and gray wash traces on white laid paper. Towne's journey began in Exeter before he embarked on a year-long adventure in Italy. Upon returning to England, he couldn't resist capturing the beauty of the Swiss Alps during his travels. In this particular piece, we are transported to Glaris Glarus - a capital city nestled within the mountainous eastern canton of Switzerland. The steep tree-lined slope depicted here perfectly captures the essence of this enchanting location.
