In this portrait by Verheyden, Webster is depicted as a distinguished barrister, politician, and judge. Webster's illustrious career spanned various roles within the legal and political spheres of England during the late 19th century. Rising to prominence as a Queen's Counsel in 1878, he later served as lead counsel for The Times in the Parnell inquiry of 1890. As a member of the Conservative Party, Webster held seats representing Launceston (1885) and the Isle of Wight (1885-1890) in Parliament.
