A seventy-year-old woman, who had courageously thrown herself to the bedside of her paralytic husband in an attempt to save the sick from the fire, was dragged out of the flames by another fearless woman, in her twenties, rushed to help. The young heroine then returned to the room to help the sick, but she lacked strength and could hardly get out of danger. The two women, both Italians residing in London, suffered serious burns.
