Photographic portrait of Victor Emanuel III, King of Italy (1869-1947). A constitutional monarch, he defied parliamentary majorities in bringing Italy into World War I on the side of the Allies. His appointment of Mussolini as premier in 1922 reduced the king's powers considerably. Date: December 11th 1915
