The Loggerhead Shrike is native to North and South America and is the largest shrike species in the New World. Known for its unusual hunting technique, it impales its prey, often small mammals and birds, on thorns or barbs for easy consumption. In this illustration, the Loggerhead Shrike is perched amongst the foliage of a greenbriar, a flowering plant from the Liliales order, providing a natural and authentic setting.
