The image showcases five illustrations that depict various moments from Jacques Philippe Joseph de Saint Quentin's renowned play, "Mad Day, Marriage, Figaro" or "La Folle Journée, ou Le Mariage de Figaro". The play was written by Pierre Augustin Caron Beaumarchais and first performed in 1784. As we observe the print closely, we see dancing couples gracefully moving around four elegantly dressed women who stand at the center of attention. The artist skillfully captures their expressions, showcasing their emotions ranging from delight to surprise. The intricate details bring life to each character portrayed in this vibrant composition. Created by Jacques Saint Quentin, a French artist born in Paris in 1738, this piece also features contributions by Claude Nicolas Malapeau from Paris (1755-1803).
