Great moment of Scottish football history captured in this stunning photograph by Lynne Cameron: Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson celebrates his goal that secured a 2-0 victory over Heart of Midlothian in the CIS Insurance Cup Semi-Final at Hampden Park during the 2007-08 season. The match, held on a cold and rainy day in Glasgow, saw Rangers and Hearts battle it out for a place in the final of the prestigious cup competition. The first half ended goalless, with both teams creating chances but unable to find the back of the net. However, the deadlock was broken in the 53rd minute when Ferguson unleashed an unstoppable strike from 25 yards out, leaving the Hearts goalkeeper with no chance. The Rangers players and fans erupted in jubilation as Ferguson ran towards the corner flag, punching the air in delight. The second half continued in much the same vein, with both teams creating opportunities but unable to add to the scoreline. However, Rangers held on to secure a hard-fought victory and a place in the final against either Celtic or Dundee United. This goal was a pivotal moment in the season for Rangers, coming at a time when they were challenging for the SPL title and the Scottish Cup. Ferguson's goal gave them the confidence boost they needed to go on and win the CIS Insurance Cup and the SPL title, making it a truly memorable season for the Ibrox club.
