Located in the department of Florida, this historic site holds significant importance as the place where the country's independence was agreed upon on August 25, 1825. The engraving, skillfully created by Carretero, is a contemporary representation of the age-old altar, which stands as a symbol of Uruguayan fatherland. The rocky outcrop, known as Piedra Alta, serves as the backdrop to this historic moment. The rugged landscape, dotted with trees and rolling hills, adds to the serene and picturesque setting. The engraving, taken from "The Spanish and American Illustration," published in 1876, showcases the formation of this Latin American nation.
