This exquisite watercolor depicts the foliage of Picea glauca, commonly known as the White Spruce, taken from page 42 of Georg Dionysius Ehret's renowned drawing book, created around 1740. Ehret (1701-1760), a German botanical artist, was a leading figure in the development of botanical illustration during the 18th century.
