EDITORS COMMENTS
Amidst the rugged beauty of County Kerry, Ireland, a rider and her pony brave the elements on the windswept Dingle Peninsula. The year was 1988, and the 80s had brought a sense of adventure and exploration to the world. In this image, published first in The Sunday Times, we see renowned photographer Philip Dunn skillfully capturing the raw power and spirit of the landscape and its inhabitants. The stormy sky above casts dramatic shadows over the undulating terrain, with crepuscular rays piercing through the clouds, as if beckoning the gods themselves. The pony, its coat glistening with rain, seems to embody the very essence of the wild and untamed Irish countryside. Its rider, dressed in riding gear, appears both determined and at one with her environment. The image, with its horseshoes digging into the earth and the rider's focused gaze, speaks to the timeless tradition of horse riding in Ireland. The Dingle Peninsula, with its breathtaking vistas and challenging terrain, has long been a favorite destination for equestrian enthusiasts seeking an authentic and unforgettable experience. As the sun sets and the light begins to fade, the scene takes on an ethereal quality, with the rider and her pony silhouetted against the backdrop of the stormy sky. This photograph, a testament to the beauty and resilience of both man and beast, is a poignant reminder of the connection between us and the natural world.
