EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from the Liszt Collection transports us back to the year 1901, capturing a serene moment of Indians fishing at the Soo. The image showcases a group of Native Americans, their figures silhouetted against the backdrop of the majestic Saint Marys River in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. The composition is strikingly beautiful; it exudes tranquility and harmony with nature. The calm waters mirror the sky above, creating an ethereal atmosphere that seems frozen in time. These indigenous people are deeply connected to their surroundings as they engage in this age-old tradition of fishing. Their presence evokes a sense of reverence for their ancestral lands and traditions passed down through generations. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the rich cultural heritage that exists within North America's indigenous communities. Through this image, we catch a glimpse into history and witness how these individuals lived harmoniously with nature long before modern developments altered landscapes forever.
