EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the enchanting streets of the City of London in 1884. Standing proudly amidst its modern counterparts, a timber boarded house catches our attention with its timeless charm. This old structure, possibly dating back to medieval times, has witnessed centuries of urban evolution. The photograph showcases an intriguing blend of Victorian architecture and bustling city life. As we peer through the lens captured by Bedford Lemere on that fateful day in April, we are transported into a world where residential spaces seamlessly coexist with vibrant retail establishments. The timber boards tell tales of countless stories etched within their weathered grains. Perhaps this building once housed families who called it home or served as a haven for weary travelers seeking respite from the busy streets outside. Over time, it had transformed into a shop, witnessing generations come and go while providing essential goods to the community. Bedford Lemere's skilled eye perfectly captures not only the physical features but also the essence of this historic dwelling.
