EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "Blind Man's Buff" by Francisco Goya captures a moment of pure joy and togetherness in 18th century rural Spain. Set against the backdrop of a picturesque lake, a group of men and women are engrossed in the lively game of Blind Man's Buff. The vibrant colors of their clothes add an element of cheerfulness to the scene. In this delightful pastime, one person is blindfolded while others stand around forming a circle, holding hands. Laughter fills the air as they playfully evade the blindfolded individual who tries to catch them with outstretched arms. This image beautifully portrays the essence of leisurely enjoyment amidst rustic surroundings. Goya's masterful use of oil as an art medium brings life and movement to each figure depicted in this artwork. His attention to detail is evident in every brushstroke, capturing not only their physical appearance but also their expressions filled with excitement and amusement. As we admire this print from the collection at Prado Museum in Madrid, we are transported back in time to witness a cherished tradition that has brought people together for centuries.
