EDITORS COMMENTS
This lithograph print, titled "AUDUBON: OPOSSUM" showcases the remarkable Virginia opossum (Didelphis virginiana) in all its natural glory. Created by the renowned artist John James Audubon for his iconic work, Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America, this piece is a true testament to Audubon's talent and dedication to capturing the beauty of American wildlife. The image transports us to a mid-19th century forest scene where an arboreal opossum gracefully climbs a tree branch. Its fur glistens under the dappled sunlight as it skillfully grips onto the bark with its delicate paws. The opulent berries adorning nearby twigs hint at nature's bountiful offerings that sustain this wild creature. Every intricate detail has been meticulously rendered in this lithograph - from the opossum's expressive snout and whiskers to its long tail elegantly trailing behind. Audubon's mastery lies not only in his ability to capture anatomical accuracy but also in infusing life into each subject he portrays. As we gaze upon this stunning artwork, we are reminded of our connection with nature and how these viviparous quadrupeds play an essential role within their ecosystems. This print serves as a timeless reminder of our responsibility to protect and preserve these magnificent creatures for future generations. Granger Art on Demand brings us yet another masterpiece through their collaboration with The Granger Collection, allowing us access to historical artworks
